We’ve Been Building A Building (The Home Kind) And Other Things Too

Margo and Riley in front of their dump of a house they renovated this year

I’m well aware that many people over the last few months have landed on this site or followed SOZO.DO on social media channels and likely thought something like, “Dang, not much business here. Wonder if they’re even doing anything?”

I know this because, well, I can see the stats — and, well, every move you make on these properties actually — and I know that we haven’t posted a thing this year, much more even finished building the site since we (re)launched this at the end of last year!

So what’s been going on?

You’d Be Surprised How Building A Good House Is Very Much Like Building A Good Website!

Well if you follow Margo or I on our personal Instagrams, you likely know the answer… We purchased a dump of a house the first week of March and have worked on it non-stop, every day since then. No exaggeration at all. We did nearly every bit of the renovation ourselves, and, thus, we have almost completely done nothing else at all (more on this in a second).

At first we were trying to keep up and keep posting, but given that we were both working other full-time jobs as well as this renovation, we just couldn’t do it. Too much is just too much.

We even, sadly, due to a few different factors, had to push back our deadline beyond the originally planned October finish. We’re almost done… and man are we ready to be done and get back to normal life and work!

It’s super intriguing to me though how much designing and building a good house is extremely similar to designing and building a good website. I’m sure I’m going to write a blog post on that soon… That’s all I’m saying on it for now though.

However, that doesn’t mean we weren’t still busy working both ON and IN this business! We’ve completed two and half websites for two business and a non-profit during this time as well!

Late nights anyone?

That’s not all though…

Additionally to those three projects, I was able to spend the last six months working full time for a local company who hired me to completely migrate and overhaul the companies huge e-commerce website.

I unfortunately will most likely not be able to share that website and design, but, suffice it to say, it allowed me to spend an awful lot of time experimenting, researching, and learning some new stuff that I can’t wait to bring to the friends and clients of SOZO.DO — especially things relating to highly customized e-commerce experiences!

That said, e-commerce was only part of it. I have a huge array of new goodies and capabilities I’ve purchased and learned this year and will be putting things to use (and we’ll be sharing more stuff) in the months ahead!

We won’t be sharing about the house here (except for probably the stunning new office we have to do our work in — watch for an office tour if you’re into that) on the SOZO.DO site, of course, but if you’re friends and/or you wanna see more of that house-stuff, then you ought to go subscribe to Margo and I’s (mainly Margo’s) more personal blog at ByManna.com. We’ll be blogging out stories and photos of the remodel there through these coming winter months. Much to share.

In the meantime, follow me, Riley, on Instagram and Twitter using @rileyadamvoth, and follow Margo on Instagram and Twitter using @missmargoclaire. We’ve been really jamming on the Instagram stories this year and getting those down. It’s fun. Margo’s way better at actually posting feed photos too.

Then, of course, follow SOZO.DO on Instagram and Twitter wish @SOZODOgood and catch the news and updates and pretty projects that we’ll be sharing in the weeks ahead!

Yep… pretty projects. That’s the kind I like.
